Not so international "International Warranty" - samsung note 3

Recently, whilst travelling in Hong Kong, I purchased a Samsung Note3. It came with its original Samsung International Warranty and was bought from an authorised Samsung retailer (not some back alley seller).

On return to Australia I decided to start up the new phone. No problem other then a few software issues. Carried out the software updates, cleared the cache, restarted the phone but still no better.

So I took it to an authorised retailer in Australia, and the official Samsung representative went through the same process - he tried every trick he know NO SOLUTION. He recommended that the handset needed to be replaced - so to the service centre - no problem.

Call the service centre, and they then proceed to tell me that the International warranty is NOT honoured by Australia!! How ridiculous. So i explained to them that Samsung have issued the official international warranty with the phone, its not a third party warranty by the OEM warrenty. They acknowledged this and told me that Samsung Austrlia does not honour the Samsung International Warranty. I was told to take the phone back to Hong Kong to get fixed there, or ship the phone to a Hong Kong service centre!

How ridiculous. I even have an audio recording of the conversation in which the service representative clearly indicates that they will not honor their international warranty!
